Day 1, Kashgar to Tashkorgan

Today’s activities: Drive along the KKH, Stop at Opal Village, Oytagh Kunlunshan Colorful mountain range, Gaz Valley and check point, Bulungkol Valley (white sand mountain), Karakul lake and local Kyrgyz family visit

We set out along the Sino – Pakistan Karakorum Highway, on the Bulungkol (The white Sand Mountain).
Pamir plateau (the roof of the world) for your visit to Karakul Lake (3600m above sea level). The lake sits at the feet of the notorious, Muztagh Ata (7546m) and Gongur (7719m) mountains. ‘Muztagh Ata’ means Father of the Ice Mountain and is one the most beautiful and mysterious mountains in the world. Day 2,Tashkorgan to Kashgar

Ativities: Visit Stone fort, Tajik village, grassland, Tashkorgan Museum and drive back Kashgar

Tashkurgan Tajik autonomous county was once an important hub on the oldTashkorgan (Stone Castle) Silk Road. The area borders Pakistan and Afghanistan and is connected to them via the Kunjerab Pass. After breakfast, you’ll have an opportunity to see the town’s ancient stone fort – still standing after 1800 years! ‘Tashkurgan’ is a translation of ‘Stone Fort.’ Walking around Tajik neighborhoods, and pay a visit to Local Tajik families live around this historic town. finally visit Tashkorgan cultural museum which gives you a further information about Tashkorgan history and Tajik culture. After lunch, drive back Kashgar

Spots and activities

  • Opal village:This village is about 50kms (one hour drive) from Kashgar city and it is worth to stop for about 10-20 minutes for waling around; Taking photos, tasting fresh bread; Eat breakfast (if you have not eaten); buy some fruits or water for the trip. You will be witness for Monday market if you travel on Monday
  • Oytagh Colorful Mountains: Kunlunshan is famous for it’s rich Minerals which each Mineral gives a special color to the mountain, you will stop for taking photos or just waling around
  • Bulongkol lake: Which means corner lake in Uyghur language , it is also well-known as Sand-mountain (Baishashan), on a good day, I offers an impressive view with reelection in the water.
  • Kyrgyz family: you can pay a visit to Local Kyrgyz family and have a cup of Yak mild tea in their yurt near the lake
  • Hiking around lake: it is about 13kms and it takes about 3-4 hours for hiking circle completely or two hours by horse.
