Tashkurgan in one or more days

Tashkurgan Tajik autonomous county was once an important hub on the old Silk Road. The area borders Pakistan and Afghanistan and is connected to them via the Kunjerab Pass. On this trip we’ll set out along the Sino – Pakistan Karakorum Highway, stopping along the way at the tomb of Muhammad Kashgary and the famous Karakul Lake. Here you’ll be able to take photos, ride horses or camels around the lake and visit some of the local Kyrgyz people families. We can stop for pictures at any time

After arriving at Tashkurgan, you’ll have an opportunity to see the town’s ancient stone fort - still standing after 1800 years! ‘Tashkurgan’ is a translation of ‘Stone Fort.’ We can also visit the Tashkurgan Historical and Cultural museum. Local Tajik families live around this historic town and here is a great opportunity to try traditional Tajik food and immerse yourself in the culture of the Tajik community. In addition, Tashkurgan is surrounded by mountains and grasslands providing a great backdrop to the matchless life of the highland..
