I
have just come back from another trip to Kashgar (Sep 18-21), where I have once
again used the services of Ali Tash's Uighur Tour and Travel. I have been a
repeat customer since October 2008 when I first visited Kashgar. On that trip,
after numerous email consultations with Ali, I had engaged a driver, a vehicle,
and an English-speaking Uyghur tour guide to take me and four friends from
Canada and the US on a 3-day trip to Karakul Lake, Tashkurgan, the Khunjerab
Pass, and to all the famous sites in and around Kashgar city (including dinner
in a Uyghur home). Another summer, I brought along 8 other Canadian friends
ranging from two to sixty years of age to visit the Kashgar region. Ali
arranged to have us picked up at the airport and helped us get good discounted
rates at a local hotel. As well, I booked a driver, vehicle and tour guide for
a one-day outing to Dawakul Lake and camel riding along the western rim of the
Taklimakan Desert.
Having visited many different parts of China, I was used to being overcharged
by local tour operators that offered mediocre services to foreigners. I was
pleasantly surprised to discover that with Uighur Tour and Travel, I got
timely, dependable service from start to finish. Ali and his staff are
incredibly professional and knowledgeable. They are effective at combining
their famous Uyghur-style hospitality with a keen awareness of western
idiosyncrasies to create relaxing, hassle-free and truly memorable touring
experiences. The vehicles and drivers he employs are clean and safe. All their
business transactions are fair and refreshingly transparent. And they always
seem to bend over backwards whenever they can to try and cater to your every
need or whim. Whether you opt for one of their many packaged tours or decide to
create your own travel itinerary, I highly recommend going through Ali and his
company.

We
were a group of close friends (neighbours to be exact) who were introduced to
Ali Tash and his agency through family members who experienced his company's
high level of professional service. We were not disappointed. Ali's depth of
historical, geographical and cultural knowledge of the places was impressive.
Even more outstanding was his personal attention to the customization of the
trip and attention to the needs of the individuals and the group. The itinerary
he designed was interesting, comprehensive and delivered with precision and his
characteristic wit and great sense of humour. His sharing was anecdotal and
detailed, evidence of his genuine passion for his craft. The trip was an
enduring experience and Ali's friendship equally memorable. We highly recommend
Ali and his team of professional staff to anyone keen to visit this part of
China!

Ali at Uighur Tours really gives the personal touch to holidays. From the moment we stepped off the plane in Kashgar Ali made sure that we were looked after. We were a group of 4 friends, and Ali was always on hand to come and answer any questions we had, or explain to us about Uighur culture. We booked 2 tours with Ali: the day drip to Karakul Lake, and the overnight desert camel trek. Both were highlights of our trip to Xinjiang. Our guide spoke excellent English and was always eager to tell us about local traditions or the history of the various areas. I’d definitely recommend booking trips in Kashgar with Ali – he alone will give you a taste of the Uighur hospitality!

Sorry it has taken me some time to reply - we flew to Japan from Beijing straight after our Xinjiang adventures and have not been back home for long!
We had a truly memorable time in Xinjiang with Uighur Tours. We both feel that we really got to know the area and it's people and were able to experience so much more than we would have had we travelled to the region on our own.
Kasim and Abdul were truly excellent guides to the area in the first section of our tour. They were knowledgable and enthusiastic about the area they clearly felt passionate about. There was a great chemistry between them which meant that we were able to enjoy their company as well as learn so much from them, this really made the holiday special for us. Barney is a photographer and was interested in taking photos and Abdul went out of his way to look for the right shots for him and was very accommodating in stopping the car when he wanted to take a photo. Kasim was very helpful and understanding and we felt that the itinerary had flexibility in it for us to change things had we wanted to. Both Abdul and Kasim were extremely helpful when we had some trouble with the police and went out of their way to help us.
The second part of our tour was very interesting, taking in the different areas of Urumqi and Turpan. Muhammad was a very knowledgeable guide and did his best to impart his knowledge. He was helpful when Barney was not feeling well and accomodating when we wanted to rest on a couple of afternoons. He also helped us to book another night in Urumqi when Barney was not feeling well enough to stay at the Heavenly Lake.
Overall, we had a great three weeks on tour with your company and would recommend you heartily to our friends.

Hello Ali Tash
We came back without problems in Belgium. About your tour, we were very happy with your great services. We made a beautiful roundtrip and I saw all I wanted to see. Your team was perfect, your guide Abdul very kind, helpfull and your driver Mohammed very prudent and safe. I keep good memories from the Uighur people and as I said, I plan to come back next year for new adventures! I will recommend your travel company to everybody who is coming to Silk Road Tour. Our group of eight (two families of four) just completed what was the most wonderful of trips! I can't echo more all of the positive comments that others have left and am not sure which words most characterize the gang at Uighur Tours who took so great care of us while we traveled in (and definitely all around) Kashgar: friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, caring, prompt, flexible, responsive, personable, professional, ... they were all of this and more. Perhaps the best thing I could say is that they were our most welcome companions on our trip through western Xinjiang. Whether it was coordinating vegetarian meals for some of the members of our traveling group, coordinating permits to travel the Karakoram Highway, or sharing a meal together, they were great! Peace, Paul

Being Han Chinese & being American, I had some concerns about traveling to far Western China. The guides at Uighur Tour (Ali, Kasim, & Shuket) were professionals (meaning I felt I could count on them to do what they said). Beyond my expectations, they were also wonderfully personable (meaning it was easy and fun to be with them). I've traveled the world and I will say that Xinjiang is not the place to go independently - the distances between places are just too far, boulders unexpectedly fall to block the road, and it is not like you can stop to ask for directions in the middle of the desert. So, if you need to travel for hours with companions who are actually interesting and warm, then you cannot do better than these nice guys. They engaged me like they engaged with the locals - Kazakhs, Tajiks, Uighurs, Huis, and Kyrkyzs.
Wherever I found myself with them, I benefited from the welcoming reception they received. I'm so grateful that I lucked out in finding these cultural ambassadors!!

Many thanks for very nice Tour to Karakul Lake. We drove very safe with the friendly Driver. We had many stops on the way to take super pictures. To all our friends we will recommend your company, even if we come back to Kashi we will configure a tour to the Mountains with your company. Many thanks to you. Monika
Many thanks

My gang of 5 went on a Silk Road Trip to Urumqi, Turpan, Kumul, Dunhuang (under a different guide), and Kashgar plus Tashkorgan with Silk Road Guide. I must say that the Silk Road Guide gave us a real taste of Silk Road. Both Ali and Hassan were knowledgeable, informative, engaging and very attentive.
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip despite the tough condition on the Silk Road. Their responsiveness to our request for change of itinerary was simply amazing. We love happy people with lots of humour and we must say Ali and Hassan have no lack of that. This is one company I will strongly recommend to anyone who wants a super memorable Silk Road experience.
Thank you, Ali & Hassan. You are the best!
Cheers! Benny, Cheryl, CK , Irene and Yap Singapore

Ali, I'm now back in Canada and am reviewing photos taken on the tour that you planned for me in June, 2011. They evoke so many splendid memories of an amazing trip. Thanks for designing something that could not have happened without your expertise. I had a wonderful time, and your staff and associates contributed to its success in so many ways: Kasim was so positive and knowledgeable and I really enjoyed his conducted tour of the hidden secretes of Kashgar; Ajy was a fine driver and seemed to know what I wanted on the trip to Lake Karakul; Abdul was a very deliberate driver who could be relied upon in so many different situations - we got along wonderfully well throughout our week-long drive, and I enjoyed his sense of humour. The attached photos were taken at Abdul's insistence - please use them to promote your organization, for my expectations were exceeded in terms of details and flexibility. I am prepared to endorse your organization in any way you wish. Thanks for everything. Richard Adams

Very friendly, helpful and patient! They helped us book the hotel and the tours - we were very happy with everything and had a great time! The memories of camping in the Taklimakan desert, staying is the Yurt with local Kyrgyz people are really a great experiences for all of us. we suggest everybody who is visiting Kashgar definitely make a trip to Karakorum highway up to Kunjirap Pass which is the highlight of our tour. definitely will recommend Uighur Tour to my friends!

Dear Ali,
This is Marla Mossman and I am on the Peace Caravan Project’s Journey along the Silk Road in China. I met Ali Tash and Uighur Tours (http://www.uighurtour.com) last year when I was passing through Kashgar on the Southern Silk Road trip.
As my guides were from Turpan we needed local advice and Ali Tash was suggested as the person to consult. Because of Ali’s knowledge and understanding of Kashgar and the region I was determined to use Uyghur Tours when I returned to China in 2011. I have been impressed with the professionalism and concern for my comfort and needs. Ali assigned his brother Allahbardi as my guide and Abdul keyoum as driver.
This combination has resulted in a magical and unforgettable experience that goes beyond the usual tourist sites. Ali Tash and Uighur Tours offered me a unique and personal experience of Uighur tradition and culture that included private cooking classes in local cuisine, personal tours of historic homes as well as a vast understanding of local traditions from villages here in Kashgar and in Hotan and Yarkand. I highly recommend Ali Tash and Uighur tours for your travel and tour needs in Kashgar and Xinjiang Province. If you want to contact me.
my Email is marla@marla.net or info@peacecaravan.com

Dear Ali,
To all at Uighur Tour, Thank you once again for a very memorable 8 days in Xinjiang. Though a number of larger travel agencies in Singapore have tours to Xinjiang, they cater to a predominantly Chinese crowd, and, as such, do not necessarily provide an in depth look at the lives and customs of the predominantly Uighur region - especially on the Southern Silk Road. First off, thank you Ali for your quick response to my emails despite the last minute nature of my enquiries. But full credit go to the guide (Allabardi) and driver (Abdul) whose knowledge and skill made traversing the 3000km from Kashgar to Urumqi - across the Talkamakan desert no less - a breeze. Hotels and food were no problem. So long as you state your preferences, the guides will assist wherever possible. (Bearing in mind that food options can be limited in smaller towns/villages). I wholeheartedly recommend Uighur Tour for their professionalism and local knowledge which is second to none.
Regards, Kelvin
For the second year in a row we have used Uighur Tour services to arrange a trip to Xinjiang. Once again, the service was excellent : nice tour, very well organized with a friendly and knowledgeable guide Alim, who even learnt to play a French card game : "belote" !
Don't hesitate to use Uighur Tour services if you are planning a trip to Xinjiang. You will enjoy yourself !

I had wanted to go on a Silk Road Tour 20 years ago. Perhaps this is the time to finally consider doing it.
Thanks for the information posted here
it's been more than two years since i toured kashgar and not a day has gone by without me longing to revisit the beautiful city.
much thanks to Ali Tash and his knowledgeable team who helped make the necessary arrangements to make a traveler's life much easier. there is probably not a corner in kashgar, or xinjiang for that matter, that these guys dont know much about.. a special thanks as well to my companion driver Aken, who was recommended by Ali as well, who not only took me to the edges to see the peaks of kashgar but also shared a glimpse of the local daily lives in food and stories..
i am hoping to see you all soon, so more power to you!!
best regards -charlie

Dear Ali,
I would like to thank you for the wonderful trip you organized for me in Xinjiang. I will never forget the iced caped mountains, the colorful markets, the desert and most of all, its people!
I'm conscious that I was a very demanding and tough customer and my guide Kasim tried hard to accommodate my needs and sudden changes of plans. His English is excellent and we were able to communicate easily all the time. Korban was a magnificent driver and however we drove 4.500 kms the only incident we had was a flat tire! Both, Kasim and Korban were very responsible and I felt safe with them all the way.
Thanks again and I truly appreciate your trust on me
